Quite a dull night. Warm with some showers. The badgers were out from 00:25 to 5:27. They came and went from the sett now and then, individually, sometimes meeting, looking a bit wet, and muddy-nosed in one case at bedtime.

There was no playing, digging or gathering bedding. The fox showed up as usual to see if there were any leftovers, at 5:49, but this time he left quickly.

A badger emerging from the ground is a striking thing to see in either daylight or, more especially in moonlight. They are silent, usually cautious, ready to dash underground. If watching nearby you instinctively hold your breath.
